hd_holidays sign ups are todayish and I'm thinking of popping my hd_holidays cherry and throwing my hat in the ring. I feel a bit like I'm a senior in high school and there has been a guy who I want to get it on with for the past 3-4 years and I've finally worked up the nerve to flirt with him. It only took the entirety of high school to get me there and now what if I'm rejected (read: not drawn)??? Worse things have happened I suppose but still....
Anyway because today is Harry's birthday and H/D was on my mind I decided Harry deserved a birthday ficlet.

Our f-lists only match up a little bit so sorry if I over explain for some of you. My best-friend and other other half, torino10154 is leaving tomorrow for a month in Italy. Before you go hating her too much this more of a visiting family forced travel thing so aside from the gelato it's kind of crappy.

Just now she sent me an email with all her user names and passwords incase something happens to her I can protect her pr0n. I say we take her LJ/iJ for a little test drive while she's away and maybe throw in some facebook fuckery for flavor.

SPN oh how I love you SPN! The Dean/Castiel scene was so wonderfully slashy. I wonder SPN folks if you can answer a question for me. I know that Wincest was the main ship and I know Dean/Castiel has some major steam behind it, does it piss people off, the whole Dean/Castiel thing? Because if I had a ship and then some character came in and took half the ship away I would be fucking PISSED.

I am so excited!!!!!! The only bad part is I don't know who's to read first??? Mmmmm....there might be two bad parts, Monday is a holiday which means "family". BUGGER!

For those of you who don't know already and who haven't signed up already today is the first day of hp_yule_balls. This year they have narrowed the field to only 75 sign ups total. At my last count that were somewhere in the mid-40's for sign ups, spots are going fast. I signed up already but I fully expect myself to edit my post a time or five before it is actually done. (The mods should hate me) I know my flist has some wonderful talent so go sign up because I would love to complain about too much good fic to read around the holidays! RUN! NOW! GO!

I am sure most of you know by now that Senator Edward Kennedy, better known as Teddy, died last night. For some reason this has made very teary this morning.

My fests summed up.

1) My bigbangblackout fic is tidied up and getting ready for a final polish.

2) I have received my radish_love assignment and I am so EXCITED!! I have an idea and a plot and characters and lines all floating around in my head and ready to be put down "on paper". Hopefully by doing that I can figure out how the fic will end.

3) Discussed with torino10154 our upcoming team effort.

4) hp_yule_balls just announced sign ups for September first. Yule_balls is an exchange fest with an adult rating required. I wrote for it last year and am so excited to sign up again! I have no idea what I'm going to ask for. *ponders* This fest kicks ass and I've been waiting all year to write for it again.

5) I desperately want to sign up for hp_unfaithful's All (Re)Mixed Up Challenge and didn't think I could till about five minutes ago. I thought I only had one story featuring infidelity and it's LOOOOONG and I didn't want to burden anyone with it. But after some thought I actually have at least three. I don't know if I will have the time to dedicate to a remix. There is a fic someone offered up for remix that I have read and enjoyed and I know exactly how I would remix it but I'm not sure still. (Note: To sign up for the fest you don't actually have to have fics with infidelity but you have to offer up ones you are willing to be spun that way)

6) Is there anything else I am signed up for?

7) A non-fic related note I heard a new children's song today about family and the video showed a bunch of different families dancing around, including two men and their children. It made my heart so happy in the same way Bert and Ernie are pre-pre-slash.

8) And one last thing. I have totally forgotten I owe midnitemarauder a prize for her performance in the canon quiz. Any suggestions at a prize I should send her? I was thinking rum.

One of the fests I really wanted to participate in this year was the Remix challenge. I was overjoyed and scared shitless to receive my assignment for remixing one of minnow_53 's fics. For those of you who aren't acquainted with minnow's fics, she's a genius working in the medium of geniusness. I love everything she writes so I had a bit of a holyshithowiamigoingtodothismoment. Then I went and read her "safe story" In No Man's Land just so I could see what I wasn't allowed to touch. I really hope that's her safe story because she is going to write a continuation because I loved it and I feel like I need the next bit. Then I started going through her massive archive and glutting myself on all her amazing fics. Initially I was going to remix Alphabet Soup, because I saw a fun idea for a story there. Then I read Thirteen and was enraptured by it but wasn't going to touch it with a ten foot pole for a couple reasons. First off it's genius just as is and completely awesome and second Remus is an honest to goodness should be rotting in jail paedophile and I knew if I remixed it that people would immediately be driven away because of that fact. But in the end I couldn't get Sirius from that story out of my head and when I try to write to please people it blows up in my face when I write because I want to write it goes much better.

So here is my "out-take" from Thirteen. If you haven't read minnow's fic and can read Remus in an unflattering way, go read it.

I really don't need to go on and on about this in present company because we all know how very homosexual the books are. If I had the time I would do a numbers comparison for how many times Harry looks at Draco, Snape, and/or Ron vs. how many times he looks at Ginny. Go read the article is a complete crack up despite the very wrong view the person has towards the books. Also I'm emailing it to my husband to prove it's not just us.

Anyone else going to watch the Tour de France? Yes, Lance Armstrong, is back this year. His new Nike ad for the TDF started running a few days ago, when I saw it I may have gotten teary Nike ad. Made me think of my mom, who wears her livestrong band every day, and then I thought of florida_minxie. Like him or not you have to love what he fights for.

On Monday I am leaving for my sister's house in California. I will be there when HBP opens in theaters. Inevitably the movie will be horrible and make me cry out of anger but I was wondering if perhaps there is anyone out there who lives in the San Jose area who wants to go see the movie with me? I could go with my sister but she hasn't read the books and won't get it when I squee when Snape touches Draco, or giggle when Harry stalks Draco, or curse and flip off the screen when Lupin touches Tonks. I would LOVE to go with another fandomer or even a group. If you are afraid I am some psycho I have other people from fandom who have met me and know me and will sign a statement that I'm fairly normal. Anyone? *looks hopeful*

I have a couple things I have been meaning to post about and am finally allowing myself to do it:

1) I was waiting till I had a good handle on my bigbangblackout to do a real post and I finally do! Sirius got soundly banged and with someone I have never written him with before. It is a character I have written before though. Not saying anymore, more will be revealed in time. Are the Big Bang posts going to be anonymous or with our names on them? I suppose it's in the rules somewhere but I never read all of those, it would be so unlike me to look before I leap.

2)I have been thinking about making this a fandom journal, no RL posts at all. Just fic and other fandom related thoughts. Or maybe a RL filter, thoughts?

3) Speaking of change I want to change my layout. Something darker in color and maybe retiring my Sirius picture and going with something else. I have that picture in mind but I will have to talk to the artist and get someone to make me a layout because I suck at that sort of thing.

4) The R/S Love Post has filled me with squee and distraction and delight. I came to the books fairly early (Pre-GOF) but came to fandom late in the game (Post HBP), so I missed so much R/S it makes me hate all you talented people and the things I am finding you have written and I didn't know about!!! Also makes me wish I had an internet addiction earlier and wasn't off doing what ever it was I was doing.

1) For the two people on my flist who haven't read this fic go read now.

Maelstorm Harry/Teddy NC-17. I wasn't going to rec it because it's been rec'd all over the place but I couldn't stop thinking about it so here I am recing it. I have a not so secret love for Teddy but perhaps I do have a love for Harry that isn't as well known. I don't tend to write a lot of Harry but I love him oh so much. In this fic Harry is written to absolute perfection. He was so perfect I couldn't help but fall in love with the story. Harry is in his early 40's his family life is in a bad spot and he take everyone on a family vacation to Greece. Ron and Hermione's family comes along as does Teddy. Teddy is not exactly a welcome tag along. The story clearly revolves around Harry and Teddy but none of the other characters fade away. Even Ron, who is not always my favorite, is written wonderfully. The story is an amazing read the sex is heart breaking and hot as hell all at the same time. So if you haven't read go read now, it's amazing.

2) MIL is gone *VBG*. Now back to work on my other things.
